About the Role:
The Head of Organic Search and Digital Marketing will be responsible for leading and optimizing our global SEO strategy to drive subscriber acquisition and organic traffic. This role requires a deep understanding of organic search, customer needs, and our product proposition to develop targeted campaigns that effectively capture and convert traffic. Initially focused on organic search, this role will expand to include oversight of paid digital channels as we scale globally. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with editorial, social, and content teams to create SEO-optimized, transcreated content across markets.
Key Responsibilities
Global Organic Search Strategy:
- Develop and execute a global SEO strategy focused on driving organic traffic, improving search engine rankings, and increasing subscriber acquisition across all key markets.
- Ensure SEO strategies are tailored to global markets, adapting content and search tactics to meet regional search behaviors, trends, and customer needs.
- Analyze competitor activity, identify opportunities, and implement initiatives to improve our organic search performance globally.
Transcreated Content Development:
- Work closely with editorial, content, and social teams to create transcreated content that resonates with local audiences while adhering to a consistent global brand message.
- Develop and implement content strategies that align with SEO goals, driving engagement and improving search performance across different regions.
- Ensure content is tailored for SEO optimization while maintaining high editorial standards, focusing on both global and regional keyword strategies.
SEO Optimization and Technical SEO:
- Lead on-page, off-page, and technical SEO initiatives to ensure high-quality, optimized content is delivered and that SEO performance is continuously improved.
- Work with the development and UX teams to optimize site structure, speed, mobile-friendliness, and implement best practices in technical SEO.
- Conduct ongoing SEO audits to identify areas for improvement, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
Content Optimization and Growth:
- Collaborate with the editorial team to ensure existing content is fully optimized for SEO, updating and repurposing content to improve its search visibility and user engagement.
- Optimize landing pages and other key on-site assets to ensure they are highly engaging and conversion-optimized for organic traffic.
- Develop strategies to refresh and repurpose older content to maximize its SEO performance and relevance.
Collaborative Efforts with Social Media and Editorial Teams:
- Partner with social media and editorial teams to create integrated campaigns that maximize visibility, engagement, and subscriber growth.
- Ensure SEO-driven content is promoted across social platforms, aligning digital marketing efforts to create a seamless user journey from discovery to conversion.
- Work with social media teams to ensure content is optimized for engagement, driving traffic and increasing organic reach across platforms.
Performance Analytics and Reporting:
- Regularly monitor and analyze organic search performance metrics such as traffic, rankings, CTR, conversions, and subscriber acquisition.
- Provide regular reports on the effectiveness of SEO strategies, offering actionable insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Utilize tools like Google Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Screaming Frog to track performance, identify trends, and optimize strategies.
Subscriber Acquisition via Organic Channels:
- Develop and implement strategies that align SEO efforts with the overall subscriber acquisition funnel, optimizing content and campaigns to convert organic visitors into subscribers.
- Work closely with product and sales teams to ensure SEO and content strategies are aligned with business objectives and customer acquisition targets.
- Ensure content provides clear CTAs and conversion paths that guide users from awareness to subscription.
Future Expansion into Paid Channels:
- Initially focused on organic search, this role will evolve to manage paid digital channels (PPC, paid social, display ads, etc.) as the company scales globally.
- Develop and execute paid search strategies, leveraging insights from organic search campaigns to inform and optimize paid advertising initiatives.
- Lead the expansion of paid digital channels, ensuring alignment with broader business goals and subscriber acquisition strategies.
Global Market Adaptation:
- Work with regional teams to adapt SEO and content strategies for different global markets, ensuring localized campaigns align with both global brand guidelines and local market needs.
- Ensure that SEO campaigns are optimized for diverse languages, cultures, and market-specific search trends.
- Collaborate with local teams to implement strategies that improve organic visibility and drive targeted traffic in each market.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Business, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in SEO and digital marketing, with a focus on global strategies and organic search optimization.
- SEO Expertise: Extensive experience in developing and executing SEO strategies, including on-page, off-page, and technical SEO.
- Content Strategy: Proven ability to create and optimize transcreated content for global audiences while ensuring SEO effectiveness.
- Data-Driven & Analytical: Strong analytical skills, with experience in tracking and optimizing digital marketing performance across SEO and paid channels.
- Global Experience: Experience working with global teams and tailoring digital marketing efforts for diverse markets.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, managing SEO, content, and digital marketing initiatives effectively.
- Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and effective execution.
- Paid Media Expertise: Experience expanding from organic search to paid digital channels, with the ability to manage PPC, paid social, and display campaigns in the future.
- Technical SEO: Proficiency in SEO tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and similar platforms.
